Rob Duchow is a Public Affairs Manager for Southern California Gas Company, covering Kern County and the Antelope Valley, a position he has held since April 2008.
In this position, Rob serves as the liaison between SoCalGas and the community, maintaining relationships with community groups such as Central Valley BizFed, as well as with local elected and appointed government officials, business leaders and media outlets.
Rob serves on a number of community boards, including the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce, Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County, Kern Economic Development Corporation, Kern County Taxpayers Association, Taft College Foundation, North of the River Chamber of Commerce, WESTEC, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Antelope Valley Board of Trade, Antelope Valley YMCA, and Greater Antelope Valley Economic Alliance. He has previously served on the board of directors of CASA of Kern County, and on the Leadership Board of the American Lung Association Kern Chapter. Rob also coaches at Bakersfield Southwest Baseball, and previously coached and refereed for AYSO Region 359.
Prior to joining SoCalGas, Rob lived in Rome, New York, where he moved in 1990 to be a reporter for the Rome Daily Sentinel newspaper. Later, he worked as Director of Communications for New York State Senator Ray Meier, and as Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Mohawk Valley EDGE, a regional economic development agency.
In Rome, Rob’s community service included 15 years on his church council, three years on the board of the local chapter of the American Red Cross; three years on the board of the Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce; six years coaching junior high baseball; 10 years on the board of the Clarkson University Alumni Association; and 11 years on the board of the Clarkson Delta Upsilon Alumni Corporation.
Rob is a 1989 graduate of Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York with a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Communications. He and his wife have two children and live in Bakersfield. In his spare time, Rob enjoys all things baseball, particularly rooting for the Boston Red Sox.
