VICA expressed its support this week for a L.A. City Council motion that would extend tax breaks to hundreds of production companies. The motion, also championed by Councilmember Richard Alarcon and the Association of Independent Commercial Producers, would increase the current $2.5 million Entertainment Production Cap to $5 million. The changes would allow at least 535 local production companies to lower their taxes. The entertainment industry and the other industries it supports are vital to the Los Angeles economy, but other cities and states are offering incentives to lure production away. VICA believes that these tax cuts will help local production companies create jobs and boost the local economy, and urges the City Council to adopt the cap increase passed this week by its Jobs and Business Development Committee. VICA members are encouraged to contact their councilmembers and express their support
