The 2009 AIA/LA “BUILDING LA’S FUTURE” Breakfast Series JIM B. CLARKE Director of Federal Relations, Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa City of Los Angeles Jim B. Clarke, 60, serves as Director of Federal Relations in the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa. In this position he has been one of the City’s point person on the federal stimulus funding. Previously, he spent four years on Capitol Hill as chief of staff to two Los Angeles Members of Congress — Diane E. Watson and Brad Sherman. Prior experience includes working for Rep. Watson in her district office and serving as executive director of two non-profit organizations — the California Clean Money Campaign, about public financing of state and local elections and the Southern California chapter of Americans for Democratic Action, involved in liberal progressive politics. He also spent ten years an executive recruiter for the firm of Korn/Ferry International. Jim holds a Masters in Public Administration from Cal State Long Beach and a Bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. He is a retired Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. He also graduated from the CORO Foundation Public Affairs fellowship program in Los Angeles.
